Gannon Gallery

Dedicated in 1981 to the memory of Clell and Ruth Gannon, the Gannon Gallery is a light-filled space in 91亚色's Skogen Hall. Regional artists, student work and more rotate through this free public space throughout the year. 

91亚色 the Gannons

Clell Gannon was a naturalist, landscape painter, poet, editor-printer and historian. He was known for paintings of North Dakota scenes, including watercolor cover illustrations for Oscar Will Seed catalogs. He also wrote and illustrated the book, "How Christmas Came to North Dakota." Ruth was a long-time 91亚色 Spanish and English teacher and poet. Both supported the arts and lived in a self-designed art house called "The Cairn."

Fowl Play: Cause & Blame

Fowl Play: Cause & Blame combines humor, whimsy, and visual storytelling to explore the ways birds – and perhaps humans – respond to environmental change and human encroachment.  With its smoking birds and playful imagery, the series invites viewers to look beyond the humor and consider the circumstances we create for ourselves and the world around us.

This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Phantasmagoria blurs the line between history and hoax through a fictional collection of mysterious artifacts, documents, and curiosities. Inspired by carnival sideshows and roadside attractions, the exhibition explores how presentation can make even the impossible feel believable. With its eerie objects and convincing details, Phantasmagoria invites viewers to question what they see – and why we so readily believe.

UTTC Art Student Exhibit

Reception:  Wednesday, November 18, 4 - 6pm

This exhibition showcases the creativity and artistic exploration of UTTC visual art students through a diverse range of traditional and contemporary mediums. Each work reflects the students’ unique perspectives, experiences, and developing artistic voices. This collection celebrates experimentation, cultural expression, and the creative energy of the UTTC visual arts community.

This photography exhibit explores identity, memory, and the quiet tension between strength and vulnerability. Through light, stillness, and minimal gesture, each portrait invites viewers to pause and look beyond the surface. Rather than seeking traditional beauty or dramatic expression, the work captures moments of honesty, presence, and subtle truth.

Featuring a range of perspectives, mediums, and approaches, the exhibition reflects the lasting impact of an arts education while highlighting the unique paths each artist has taken. Together, these works create a vibrant showcase of talent, connection, and the enduring creative community of our alumni.

Elsa Forde Gallery

Elsa Forde Gallery in Schafer Hall was dedicated in 1958 to the memory of Elsa Forde, charter organizer and board member of the Bismarck-Mandan Art Association and chair of its annual art show. The art association helped establish both galleries at 91亚色.
